Soto Blitar (chicken soup) East Java Traditional Food and How to make Soto Blitar


We back again to the Javanese traditional food that is very popular because its taste. Traditional recipe of east java that placed in Blitar is Soto (chicken soup), which often called a Soup Blitar (soto blitar).
In this a good chance, we will review about the recipe of this food. What is the secret, which could make this soup so delicious, and how to make it? Let’s take a look on this recipe:


Ingredients:

  • ½ kilos of chicken 
  • 1.800ml
  • 3 bay leaves 
  • 3 lime leaves 
  • 1 cm ginger (crushed) 
  • 2 cm ginger (crushed) 
  • 3 ¾ teaspoon of salt 
  • 2 ¾ teaspoon of sugar

Spices:

  • 7 red onions 
  • 4 cloves garlic 
  • 1 cm turmeric (burned)

Chili Sauce:

  • 20 pieces of cayenne pepper 
  • Garlic 
  • ½ teaspoon of salt 
  • ½ teaspoon of sugar

The complements:

  • 150 grams of coarse shredded coconut 
  • 50 grams beans sprout 
  • 2 stalks celery (chopped) 
  • 2 pieces of lemon 
  • 25 grams of fried onions

How to make a chicken soup (Soto Blitar)

  1. Boil chicken, bay leaves, lime leaves, galangal, ginger, salt and sugar then cook it all until done. 
  2. Take the chicken and fry, and slice it into pieces. 
  3. Heat the oil then until fragrant. Pour into boiling broth. Bring to a boil. 
  4. Chili sauce: Boil the cayenne pepper and garlic then lift. Add salt and sugar. (puree it all) 
  5. Serve the soup of soto blitar with chili sauce and its complement.
